Underwater Projects
Hip Hop Caucus is excited to announce the release of our short film, Underwater Projects, and would like to cordially invite you to join us for an exclusive screening at Norfolk State University on Thursday, October 3.
Underwater Projects highlights the historic Black community in the St. Paul’s district in Norfolk, Virginia, that is sinking. There is currently no public plan to prevent it from going underwater, and the climate crisis is posing an existential threat to residents. The film unpacks a proposed “climate resilience” plan to tear down public housing and redevelop the district and discusses what that means for the Black and Brown residents of St. Paul’s.
We will also hold a post-screening panel discussion between local environmental justice leaders, advocates and experts, several of whom were featured in the film:
The panel discussion will be moderated by Armani Ray, President of the Norfolk State University Biology Society.
