Norfolk State University Welcomes the
Legendary Patti LaBelle in Concert
As part of its week-long 90th Anniversary celebration, Norfolk State University will host a live concert headlined by the incomparable Patti LaBelle.
The concert, “An Evening with Patti LaBelle,” is scheduled for 7 p.m., Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the L. Douglas Wilder Performing Arts Center on the campus of Norfolk State University.
A living legend, Patti LaBelle has, for more than 60 years, left an indelible mark all over the world as a versatile artist through her singing, musical performance, film and television appearances, books, and successful food and lifestyle brand.
A Philadelphia native, LaBelle captured her first hit in 1962 as lead singer of The Bluebelles and went on to receive worldwide acclaim with the trailblazing and genre-bending trio, Labelle. A solo artist since the 1970s, she has created timeless songs that have helped cement her place as a music icon and garnered her numerous honors, including Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, NAACP Image Awards, New York Times bestselling books and more. LaBelle has shown her diversity and continued to break down barriers as an artist, entertainer, actress, author and entrepreneur.

Norfolk State University opened its doors on September 18, 1935, amidst the Great Depression. As it celebrates the 90th anniversary of its founding, a slate of activities has been planned for the week.
