The Norfolk State men’s basketball program will host its annual tip-off dinner on Friday, Sep. 29 at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott.

The 10th edition of the event will be headlined by keynote speaker John Lucas II. The 1976 No. 1 overall NBA Draft pick enjoyed a 14-year professional playing career, transitioning to coaching soon after. He was the head coach of the San Antonio Spurs, Philadelphia 76ers, and Cleveland Cavaliers at various points in his coaching career, and currently serves a front-office role with the Houston Rockets.

Lucas has transparently discussed the struggles he faced with drug addiction and alcoholism during his playing career. Now 30-years sober, he has dedicated himself to helping other addicts regain control of their lives, creating an extensive program that helps athletes progress to their athletic potential, achieve sobriety, and remain drug free.

Event tickets include dinner and access to raffle prizes. Table packages cost $850 for eight guests. For more information on the dinner, contact assistant coach Jamal Brown at gbrown@nsu.edu or 615-483-2318.

Individual tickets can be purchased at NSUSpartansTickets.UniversityTickets.com or in person at the NSU Ticket Office between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
