About this Event
Lyman Beecher Brooks Library is Migrating to New Integrated Library System this Summer
Lyman Beecher Brooks Library is migrating to a new integrated library system this summer. An integrated library system (ILS) is the software that automates and manages the core functions of a library, including acquisitions, cataloging, and circulation. It also includes the online library catalog that students, faculty, and others use to conduct library research.
From May through July, LBBL will be migrating from its current system called Innovative Sierra, to a new system called OCLC WorldShare Management Services. This is a weeks-long process that, among other things, involves transferring the library’s bibliographic and patron data from the current system to the new one. This project is scheduled to be completed at the end of July.
One major outcome of this migration is that the library will cease using the online library catalog associated with Innovative Sierra. It will be replaced by WorldCat Discovery, the online research platform associated with OCLC WorldShare Management Services. For you, this means that by the end of July, there will be one primary interface on the library’s website for conducting library research: WorldCat Discovery.
Please prepare yourself for the system migration by becoming familiar with WorldCat Discovery and sharing this development with others throughout the summer. By August, for example, you should update any links to the library’s catalog contained in your syllabi or Blackboard accounts. LBBL will provide you with additional news and information as it becomes available this summer.
Please contact the library at 757-823-2418 or library@nsu.edu if you have any questions.
