 Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast to Recognize Norfolk State University President Javaune Adams-Gaston, Ph.D., during Famous Formers Celebration at d'Art Center
 

 President of Norfolk State University, Javaune Adams-Gaston, Ph.D., will be honored and recognized along with five other female leaders by Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast on May 1, 2025, at the d’Art Center in Norfolk from 5:30–8:30 p.m. This recognition will take place during the 2025 Famous Formers event, a celebration of Girl Scouting and its legacy of leadership. 

As the seventh president of Norfolk State University, Dr. Adams-Gaston is committed to ensuring that NSU fulfills its mission and to the success of each student. Her appointments and honors have included: President Biden’s Appointment to the Board of Advisors on Historically Black Colleges and Universities, U.S. Department of Commerce Industrial Advisory Committee, NCAA Board of Governors, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges Board of Trustees, and Greater Norfolk Corporation Board of Directors. 

The Famous Formers celebration honors female entrepreneurs, visionaries and business leaders who were Girl Scouts in their youth, and who have made a difference through high levels of achievement in their professional activities and volunteer efforts, like Dr. Adams-Gaston. 

Guests will participate in hands-on art projects led by resident artists of d'Art Center. Journalist Rae Pearson Benn with WTVZ and host of Our Issues Hampton Roads will be the emcee for the Famous Formers celebration. 

Ticket info: Individual tickets are $60 per person, or two for $100, and will engage you in the brilliant world of the d’Art Center. Valet parking, culinary delights to suit every palate, two beer/wine tickets, and art projects included. Find details at www.gsccc.org
