Dean of Students

Dear Spartan Community:

It is my great pleasure to announce the appointment of Mr. David Simon, Jr. as the new Dean of Students. Mr. Simon served as the Vice President for Campus Life, Dean for Students, Title IX Coordinator, and CLERY Compliance Coordinator at Lakeland University in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

He previously served in a multitude of roles at Lakeland University, including Sr. Director for Campus Safety, over Residence Life, and Campus Shuttle Operations, and Director for Campus Safety. Prior to his work at Lakeland University, he worked as the Dean of Students and Behavioral Intervention Specialist at the Detroit Academy of Arts & Sciences. Before that, he served several years as a law enforcement officer in Detroit. Mr. Simon is in the dissertation phase of a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Northcentral University and earned a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from New England College. He also received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology from Lakeland University.

Mr. Simon will join us in mid-July. As we transition to prepare for his arrival, Mr. Kameron Dabney, Coordinator of Student Advocacy and Family Relations, will work as the point of contact for the Dean of Students Office and work in partnership with me to address any needs that may arise between now and Mr. Simon’s arrival. Feel free to contact the office as you normally would for assistance.

Thank you to the search committee and all who participated in our search to fill the Dean of Students position.

Sincerely,

 Dr. Leonard Brown, Jr.
Vice President for Student Affairs
