Access to capital refers to how difficult or simple it is for someone to obtain funds or resources for their business. Most people desire capital to launch, operate, and scale their businesses. Businesses in the United States have access to a variety of funding options like equity, grants, and loans. However, for members of a group that have endured discrimination and bias for deecades, it can be difficult to obtain funding. In this monthly workshop, we teach entrepreneurs how to obtain those funding opportunities.

These monthly hybrid events take place at the NSU Innovation Center in downtown Norfolk at 520 E. Main Street and virtually through Zoom.

The NSU Innovation Center (NSUIC) and the Small Business Development Council (SBDC) will provide you with information and requirements for acquiring funding, such as grants, debt/loans, equity/investors, and bootstrapping. Additionally, this Access to Capital program will include a non-bank SBA 504 financing program aimed at existing businesses.
